Governance
The Western Iowa Journalism Foundation (WIJF) was developed as a public charity under IRC Section 501(c)(3) and is independently governed by a volunteer board of directors. The board is currently comprised of seven individuals with diverse occupations, ages, and experiences. The ability to bring multiple perspectives to strategic discussions allows for effective board governance.
The WIJF governing body establishes direction and provides all oversight for the nonprofit organization. Furthermore, the board ensures that a contracted executive director is appropriately managing the organization and completing tasks that fulfill WIJF’s mission. Board meetings are held monthly, and a quorum must be present for the transaction of business.
